xXx - Candice Tyson

CU eye level shot
The film begins with a CU tracking shot of a man walking however we do not see his face in this shot, instead we see his feet as he walks. His walk is strong and his stride is wide suggesting he is confident and has somewhere to be. His shoes appear smart and both the shoes and trousers are black which already gives the person watching an idea of the type of person this could be.
ELS high angle

The sequence then goes on to show an ELS of the same man walking, this shot reveals the setting he is in. The high angle makes him appear very small, we see that it is in the evening and street lights are lighting up the area. Although the person appears small in this shot there is a sense of power as he walks through the town without anyone around- the music adds to this effect.

LS low angle
In this shot the man on the rope comes from darkness into the light, he is wearing full black clothing and a mask- this already tells us that he/she is probably the antagonist in the movie and has something to hide. Darkness is often associated with evil and the fact the person swings out from the darkness could be a representation of this persons character.

MCU eye level

MS slightly high angle
When it comes to the editing in the sequence towards the end the shots between the protagonist and antagonist become closer together to create suspense as it is a chase scene. This builds tension for the person watching. This is done through cross-cutting between the antagonist and protagonist.

This shot is of the antagonist fighting his way through the crowd. The shots switch between the protagonist and antagonists as they make their way through the crowds of people. This is called cross cutting as it is used to connect the two characters and creates suspense.
CU eye level

This shot and the next shot are linked because throughout the sequence there is non-diegetic sound of heavy rock music, however, the non-diegetic sound is soon made into diegetic as the 'good guy' enters a large room filled with people listening to a band playing the music heard throughout the sequence.

ELS canted

This is a point of view shot from the protagonist and the shot is at a canted angle suggesting he may feel unstable as he sees the crowd he has to run through. The music playing adds to the suspense as it is loud, there is also a lot of shouting and this adds frustration to the chase scene.
